Quinta das Cegonhas used to be called Quintais das Fidalgas, or, alternatively, `´The house of the Noblemen`´. Quinta means `´farmhouse`´. The meaning of Quinta das Cegonhas is `´ The house of the storks`´. This name is derived from the five wrought - iron stork headed lanterns around the building that give the edifice its characteristic appearance.

Within the quinta there are rooms and apartments for to rent. These units are spacious and well appointed, and you will find there all the comforts of home, including attached baths, comfortable beds, and a warm and cozy atmosphere. With the aim of restoring the authentic character of this three hundred - year - old building, great care has gone into the recreation of such details as the old granite seats in the alcoves, the marble floors, and the warm colours for the furnishing.

The host of the Quinta prapares a sumptuous buffet dinner for his guests. The restaurant can be used also for meetings, activities, parties, performance, courses and so on.
